it's almost the end of july. i guess from now on i'm gonna try post albums i got for the past month. under the band name i'll post their myspace page and if i can find a music video, i'll embed with it.

i realized that lately most albums i listened to the past month are in the area of folk/ alt-folk/ singer-songwriter with somber/ melancholic/ poignant attitude. i dunno, i hate explaining what it is that i listen to.

air france - no way down

no opera - architecture, architecture

baccara - the very best of baccara

frightened rabbit - the midnight organ fight

this video is cute:

jape - ritual

kansas - the best of kansas

the last shadow puppets - the age of understatement

i'm not a fan of arctic monkeys and i dont know if i can be a fan of this album either.

laura marling - alas i cannot swim

liars - liars

mgmt - oracular spectacular

i have to admit they dont sound as horrible as they were when i saw them live opening for of montreal many moons ago. they actually start to sound pleasant to my ears.

electric feel on youtube >>

miracle fortress - five roses

noah and the whale - peaceful, the world lays me down

okkervil river - the stand-ins

shearwater - rook

sun kil moon - april

the tallest man on earth - shallow graves

titus andronicus - the airing of grievances

arms against atrophy >>

women - women

listen to vetiver

the new vetiver album, a thing of the past, is probably one of the few solid albums of the year so far imo. if you're uptight about music selection, as in, you cant accept alt folk with slight twang, you wont dig this. unfortunately, however, this is only a cover album and that can tick some people off. i generally do not like cover albums but since this one sounds so good...

as of now, there's a couple songs up on the muxtape (see right -->)

the two songs (sleep a million years and swimming song) might disappear from the muxtape in the near future. so check em out now.
